Monticello, NY Posts: 505 | This may sound silly, but I never knew that flyfishing for Stripers was not only fairly common, but, effective to boot!! I'd like to try it sometime. I have a 7 weight that I could rig up, but what would my setup consist of? For flies, I'm guessing large streamers like Deceivers, but what type of line and leader- probably fast sinking? Would shooting head sink-tips be better ? Thanks 😊

A #7 rod is on the light side but doable for the smaller 22" - 28" fish but it will limit the size of flies you will be able to cast comfortably. Many guys use a floating line or sink tip.
